Let's Talk Torque

You might have noticed those little markings on your bike that say something like “5-6 N.m.” This is the “Torque-Spec” of a particular bolt or screw. Manufactures are getting better about calling out the specifications by engraving or painting the Torque-Spec right on the part. Meet John!

With founder Bill Koehler stepping aside in 2019, we'd like to introduce you Beglianwerkx's new owner, John W. Miller! As both an experienced businessman and a like-minded mountain, cyclocross, and road cyclist, we've found John to be a perfect fit for building on to the strong and highly specialized foundation the shop has established since our opening in 2013.

ENVE Stainless Vs. Ceramic Bearings

"Don't waste your money on ceramic bearings." If we've discussed ceramics, you probably heard me say this. I've found that ceramics never last as long as a good steel bearing. We usually replace most cartridge bearings with Phil Wood & Co. bearings. With proper maintenance, they survive even in tough cyclocross conditions. ENVE Composites did some water spray testing, and they also found stainless bearings survive longer than ceramics.

It all came together quickly, and Belgianwerkx opened in January 2013. We were pretty sure that the local cycling scene needed and wanted a shop like ours, so it was a calculated leap of faith. But the response was immediate and positive, and has continued for the last 6 years.
