New Bike Day, Our Way

Are you longing for #NewBikeDay, but not sure where to start? At Belgianwerkx, we make finding your perfect bike quick, easy, and personal. Whether you're a seasoned racer or totally new to riding, we are happy to guide you though the process and help you choose the best bike and gear for you. Here's how it works:

Initial Fit

We always start with an initial fitting session using our Retul fit bike. This helps us make sure you'll be on the right size, and lets us compare the geometries of different bikes you may be considering. While we would love to carry each size of every model of bike in the shop, that's not as easy as it seems (Giant alone has nearly 1,000 SKUs)! However, we do typically have our most popular models and sizes available on our floor for test rides. With so many options out there, it's always a helpful to have a few bikes in mind before coming in, but is certainly not necessary! A simple "wish list" of what you'd like in your next bike usually goes a long way in narrowing the search. This first fitting is also a great time to ask any questions you may have about components, discuss the type riding you do now, the kind you'd like to do in the future, and the features that matter most to you. These are all important things to keep in mind while shopping! Expect this session to take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

Ordering

Once you've found "the one", we'll get it ordered right away. We'll go over the options for color and component level, and can plan for any upgrades or extra gear you might need right away. At this time, we require a 25% deposit on your order. Most bikes arrive at the shop within a few days, and will be professionally built by our mechanics as soon as possible. We won't keep you waiting! (Occasionally a bike may be back-ordered for a short time, but we'll let you know if that's the case!)

Pick up

When it's time to pick up your bike, Nick will go through a more in-depth fit to make sure it's set up in your most comfortable and efficient position. If you're new to cycling, this session may be less detailed. New cyclists often need some time to adjust to the sport, and in this situation we usually recommend riding for a few weeks to "break in" your body and bike, so you can get the most out of the fit session. This session usually takes up to an hour.

As your body adjusts to your new bike, you may find that your fit needs some tweaking. Follow-up appointments for fit adjustments not only welcome, but included with your purchase.

Retul Fit

This step is completely optional, although we do highly recommend it (especially for those who love data!)! This is as detailed as it gets, using 3D motion capture technology to measure every degree of movement and millimeter of distance. Analyzing this information helps us (and you) make fit or component choice that help optimize your riding experience.
